More than 40 Manor East customers left in the cold by the sudden closing of the Massapequa-based catering hall have received assistance finding other options.
The office of Assemb. Joseph Saladino, R-Massapequa, offered to help customers who've had thier parties displaced when Manor East closed last week, and with the help of the Long Island Catering Association, and a spokeswoman said that since Friday, more than 40 customers asked for assistance.

A hotline has been set up by the Long Island Caterers Association to help parties find a new venue: 516-462-9001.

There's no word yet on any possible refunds from Manor East, the spokeswoman said.
Meanwhile, nearby caterer is offering discounts to Manor East Customers. Iavarone Bros. on 1166 Wantagh Ave. in Wantagh announced Tuesday that 25 percent catering discounts ($500 maximum order) will be offered to those who had an original contract with Manor East for upcoming events.

“All of us at IB Foods feel terrible about all those who have lost deposit monies from the closure of Manor East Catering in Massapequa,” said Joseph Iavarone, president of Iavarone Bros., in a letter announcing the discount offer.
