Authorities Investigate Possible Arson in Massapequa Park

Car fire on Clark Boulevard may have been set.

A fire damaged two vehicles over the weekend in Massapequa Park, and authorities are looking into the possibility that it was intentionally set.

The blaze broke out at 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the IGA store near the intersection of Clark Boulevard and Park Boulevard and gutted one vehicle.

Firefighters put the blaze out in about ten minutes, but one of the vehicles was gutted. Massapequa Fire Chief Stephen Daresta said that fire marshals are investigating the possibility that it was set by someone who was involved in a domestic dispute with his brother.

The blaze spread to a second vehicle, melting its rear bumper. That vehicle was not owned by one of the brothers involved in the alleged dispute.

Nassau County police said that nobody has been charged in connection with the fire, but one of the brothers was arrested Saturday for violating an order of protection.
