Teens Arrested for Massapequa Hammer Attack

Santiago Orrego tried to settle an argument by hitting two men in the head, police said.

Two teenagers were arrested on Saturday after a roadside argument turned violent, leaving two men in the hospital with hammer wounds to their heads.

According to Nassau County police, Nicolas Russi, 19, and Santiago Orrego, 18, stepped out of their 1999 Audi at Louden Street and Sunrise Highway in Massapequa to confront two men in who had exited their 2005 Cadillac .

That's when Orrego allegedly grabbed a hammer and hit one man in the right side of his head before hitting the second man in the back of the head.

Both teens then fled in their Audi. 

The two victims were transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated for large head wounds.

A short time later, both men turned themselves in, police said.

Russi and Orrego were both charged with two counts of 2nd degree assault, a felony, and were arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
