On Tuesday, voters in the Massapequa School District will go to the polls to vote for one member of the Massapequa Board of Education. There will be no official candidates on the ballot as no candidate filed nominating petitions before the deadline. While voters are free to write-in the names of anyone they choose, two candidates have publicly announced they wish to be considered as write-in candidates. Patch gave both of those candidates the opportunity to answer our questions. Tim Taylor declined the invitation. The information below is based on previous reports and his public statements.
- Write-in Candidate: Tim Taylor Incumbent
- Profession: Owner of "Tim's Tree Service"
- Other: Taylor is the current Vice President of the Massapequa School Board. He choose to be considered as a write-in candidate after missing the filing deadline for nominating petitions by five minutes. Hie is the father of six children.
On The Board and budget: We have a board that works well together and finally "gets it." The result is a budget that has a 1.48 percent increase for next year, possibly the lowest increase in the state with no fall-off in student performance.if we hadn't got hit with a huge increase in retirement system contribution the budget would have been $1 million less than last year.
On the Proposed Budget: Taylor voted along with the current school board to vote for the proposed 2013-14 school budget.
